Season's last dyes.

I have finished the plant dyeings for now, and put away the pot and all the other dyeing equipment.
I do have some dried plants stored away and several skeins of white wool, but that will have to wait untill some time in the new year.

In the photo below are the results of season's last dyes, dyed from:
goldenrod - yellow,
redbanded polypore - beige,
yarrow (on grey yarn) - green,
and the five last pinkish beige skeins are fermentation dyes with wormwood.

Now I have a nice yarn stash for winter :)

Here is some of my yarn stash.
I have gone through most of the yarn now, and I am almost done tidying. Most of it is stored in see-through plastic boxes, to make it easy to see what the boxes contain.
Two of the boxes contain store bought yarn, one with cotton and one with different qualities of wool. In the last four boxes (and in the baskets) there are plant dyed wool yarn, stored after wool type.
There is still some more yarn lying around in bags, amongst that the yarn I bought in Riga this summer. And more yarn stored with the works in progress. So I will be needing a few more storage boxes.

The wool I plant dyed this summer is still in skeins, but today I made an online purchase for a yarn ball winder. Hopefully it arrives safely here very soon, and then the yarn winding will be a quick and easy process :)

These are gorgeous colours too Hilde!
It's so nice to work with the seasons, dyeing in summer, knitting or crocheting in winter, that's what I call Harmony with Nature.
Thank you for your comment on my blog :)
I suggest you harvest the Iris roots now, as Fall is the best season, the roots give the best colours now. Just place them in a sealed container with some water, in a not too cold spot, till next Spring.
To get this blue-grey shade, I only used a basic-alkali vat and no acid vat at all. More experiments next summer.
Have a nice evening !

Wow Hilde, all those pretty soft colors! You should not be bored on cold and snowy winter days!

My friend got a wool winder from a friend as a gift. This friends family is from Bulgaria and the wool winder was her mothers. It might be well eighty or so years old, from wood and beautifully made. Already several times she loaned it to me, it works wonder! :-)

Wow, vilken samling.

I always love seeing your newly dyed yarn. Something about all those natural colours hanging in the sun my heart sing. Plants and yarn together are such a wonderful combination. :-)

Thanks Anna :) I am very pleased with summer's natural dyes. And I love my yarn :)

Thanks Marylene :) I like what you say about dyeing in summer and knitting and crocheting in winter is in harmony with Nature, and I agree with you!
Also thanks so much for the advice on iris roots dye :)

Thanks Yael :) I am very excited about the yarn winder, hope it arrives soon!

Thanks Karisma :) You are so right; plants and yarn are a lovely combination!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend you all!
